Do it Yourself Digital Marketing for Home Builders

Just like a client who wants to build a house themselves, sometimes you just can’t convince them otherwise 🙂

If you’re the type who wants to take charge of their digital marketing operations and perhaps put a staff member to work on a few tasks, here are a few steps and tasks that you could attempt in house, for better or worse.

DIY Steps

These steps will be expanded over time and eventually available as a PDF download:

  1. Create your website. If you don’t want to hire a designer, you can use one of the DIY website builders such as Wix (terrible) or Squarespace (a littler better). We would always recommend WordPress on a secure server.
  2. Create a Google Business Profile (GBP). This is a vital part of getting local leads. This is the map listing that you will see on Google where people can quickly contact you, look at pictures you’ve posted, and leave a review. It is crucial to create, claim, and fill in all of your details accurately on the Google Business Profile.
  3. Create Your Facebook Page. Even though many home builders we’ve come across have a certain disdain for social media, it is still important to – at the very least – create your official company page on the main platforms. At the very least, create a Facebook company PAGE (not profile, as some have made the mistake of using a personal profile as a business page. This is not ideal. From an existing personal profile, ideally the business owner’s, create a PAGE, that will be housed under that personal profile).
  4. More to come!
